Hypnobirthing Course Client Review - Heather and Tom

I worked with Heather and Tom before the birth of their second baby. They had previously done an NCT course when they were expecting their first son but they had never done hypnobirthing before. Heather had her first baby by c-section and was keen to have a vaginal birth second time round. Here’s what her husband Tom had to say following the course:

“My wife booked me and her onto a Hypnobirthing course a few months ahead of the due date of our baby. I didn’t know what to expect but I honestly hadn’t got high hopes as we had previously attended an NCT course during covid and although our instructors were great, the syllabus, in hindsight did nothing to educate us about what to really expect during labour and how the actual birthing process will unfold.

What Fiona provided us with, with her course, was a much deeper understanding of what was to come, from the first moments of early labour, right through to us leaving hospital with our newborn.

Fiona is entertaining, passionate and knowledgeable and throughout the course aside from the syllabus, she gave us loads of priceless tips to make a daunting life event far less stressful.

The course asks questions of both mum and her support, that both of you really want time to consider before you find yourself in the labour ward.

It gave us the confidence and knowledge to construct a realistic and workable birth plan and taught us both how to work with the midwives or doctors to have the birth that we want. And importantly as well, to understand the various levels of intervention, so should they become necessary, we know what they actually are and what they are doing to mum and baby.

Our only prior experience of someone giving birth was what we’d seen in movies or TV. Or what horror stories my wife had heard from friends, as our first child was delivered by c-section. By signing up for the course and spending some time with Fiona, she gave us the real truth. And with it, we were in a far better position to prepare for the big day.
